Carta Navideña

Estaré escribiendo una carta navideña un poco diferente a familiares, amigos, seguidores en Facebook, compañeros de clase que no he visto en años, exalumnos de los Redentoristas y especialmente a los migrantes e inmigrantes que me han dado tanta alegría al realizar la misión. de mi Congregación a los “más abandonados”. Este ha sido un año tan diferente, se necesita intentar nuevas formas de reflexionar sobre un año. En este mundo de la tecnología, las tarjetas antiguas no son tan convenientes para transmitir el mensaje navideño que deseo dar.

Publiqué en Facebook, y en los grupos de correo electrónico a los que pertenezco, una invitación a reflexionar sobre este año de tantos desafíos, a esperar las bendiciones de la Navidad y a entrar en el próximo año con la esperanza de poder recibir a los pobres y a los que sufren en nuestro mundo, para abrir nuestra iglesia y nuestro mundo para crear una “nueva normalidad” que incluya un espíritu generoso de compasión, perdón y comprensión para los marginados en la Iglesia y en la sociedad. Si bien el año pasado ha sido un gran desafío, terminamos el año con la esperanza de que se aborde el COVID a medida que las personas comiencen a recibir nuevas vacunas y una nueva normalidad pueda llevarnos a un mundo más justo, compasivo y responsable con las generaciones futuras. Eso es para el mundo en su conjunto, para nuestra Iglesia y para la Congregación del Santísimo Redentor.

Durante este año he experimentado cuatro veces el protocolo de cuarentena o aislamiento por haber viajado, haber tenido contacto con personas infectadas con COVID y haber contraído la enfermedad personalmente. Esos tiempos me han dado una perspectiva de la vida y el ministerio que reconoce los errores pasados y las bendiciones de mi vocación, un momento para recuperar el “Gozo del Evangelio” y buscar una nueva relación con Cristo y caminar con aquellos a quienes Jesús amaba tanto.

No sé exactamente a dónde pueden llevar estas reflexiones, pero estos son mis deseos navideños para todos. Que el nacimiento de Jesús sea la luz que nos oriente en nuestra recuperación a partir de 2020, tanto en la Iglesia como en nuestro mundo.

A Christmas Letter

I will be writing a bit of a different Christmas letter to family, friends, followers on Facebook, classmates who I have not seen in ages, alumni of the Redemptorists and especially the migrants and immigrants who have given me so much joy in realizing the mission of my Congregation to the “most abandoned.” This has been such a different year, trying new ways to reflect on a year is needed. In this world of technology, the old cards are not so convenient for conveying the Christmas message that I wish to give.

I posted on Facebook, and to email groups that I belong to, an invitation to reflect on this year of so much challenge, to look forward to the blessings of Christmas and to enter the coming year hopeful that we can welcome the poor and those suffering in our world, to open our church and our world to create a “new normal” that includes a generous spirit of compassion, forgiveness and understanding for those marginalized in the Church and in society. The letters or reflections that I write will be posted on my blog: padremigrante.org . While the past year has been so much of a challenge, we end the year with a hope that COVID will be addressed as people begin to receive new vaccines and a new normal may bring us to a world more just, compassionate and responsible to future generations. That is for the world as a whole, for our Church and for the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.

I have during this year experienced four times the protocol of quarantine or isolation for having traveled, had contact with people infected with COVID and having contracted the disease personally. Those times have given me a perspective on life and ministry that recognizes past missteps and blessings of my vocation, a time to recapture the “Joy of the Gospel” and to seek a new relationship with Christ and walking with those whom Jesus loved so much.

I do not know exactly where these reflections may lead, but these are my Christmas wishes for all. May the birth of Jesus be the light that guides us on our recovery from 2020, both in the Church and in our world.
