ALELUYA, CHRISTO VIVE
Cristo ha resucitado. Nuestras celebraciones litúrgicas recuerdan la historia de nuestra salvación. La Vigilia Pascual comienza con la historia de la creación, recordando la creación del universo, nuestro mundo y nuestro comienzo como hijos de Dios. La historia del Éxodo recuerda el viaje del pueblo de Israel dejando la esclavitud en Egipto por la Tierra Prometida. El sepulcro vacío nos proclama que Jesús vive, ¡ALELUYA!
Esta es nuestra primera celebración de Pascua con personas reunidas para alabar al Dios de toda la creación en dos años. Debido a la pandemia de coronavirus, parece que nuestra Cuaresma ha sido todo el año pasado. Hoy, la tumba está vacía, ¡ALELUYA!
El año pasado estuve en Chincoteague, Virginia. Había planes en la comunidad para un servicio de Easter Sunrise (Pascua Amanecer). Luego, el servicio del amanecer se canceló debido a la pandemia. La mañana de Pascua, fui a una parte aislada de la isla para rezar laudes, (la oración de la mañana) al amanecer el sol. Era hermoso, sereno, pero solitario. Era fácil imaginar a María Magdalena yendo sola a la tumba al amanecer. Aunque hermosa, la Pascua del año pasado fue solitaria.
La pandemia todavía está con nosotros, acceso a nuestras celebraciones es limitado, y necesitamos el mensaje de la Pascua. Para creyentes, la tumba vacía es un signo de esperanza. La Pascua es el signo de esperanza que el mundo necesita. ¡Cristo vive, ALELUYA!

He is Risen. Our liturgical celebrations teach by recalling the story of salvation. The Easter Vigil begins with the story of creation, reminding of the creation of the universe, our world and our beginning as children of God. The story of the Exodus recalls the journey of the People of Israel leaving slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land. The empty tomb proclaims to us that Jesus lives, ALLELUIA!
This is our first celebration of Easter with people gathered to praise the God of all creation in two years. On account of the coronavirus pandemic, it seems as though our Lent has been the entire past year. Today, the tomb is empty, ALLELUIA!
Last year, I was in Chincoteague Virginia. There were plans in the community for an Easter Sunrise service. Then the sunrise service was cancelled because of the pandemic. On Easter morning, I went to an isolated part of the island to pray Lauds (morning prayer) at sunrise. It was beautiful, serene, but lonely. It was easy to imagine Mary Magdalene going to the grave at sunrise alone. While beautiful, last year Easter was lonely.
While the pandemic still hangs over us, and we have limited access to our celebrations, we need the message of Easter. For all believers, the empty tomb is our sign of hope. This Easter is the sign of hope that our world needs. Christ lives, ALLELUIA!

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
