Hoy, antes de #GivingTuesday, agradecemos a nuestros donantes fieles que apoyan las misiones redentoristas a los pobres y más abandonados. Sin sus contribuciones, no podríamos entregar comidas a tantos necesitados, visitar a los enfermos y moribundos, compartir un mensaje de esperanza con tantos jóvenes en el interior de las ciudades, consolar a muchos que están en duelo y celebrar la Misa en regiones remotas de África. y América del Sur.

Today in the leadup to #GivingTuesday, we thank our many faithful donors who support the Redemptorist missions to the poor and most abandoned. Without your contributions, we couldn’t deliver meals to so many in need, visit the sick and dying, share a message of hope with so many young people in the inner cities, comfort many who grieve, and celebrate Mass in remote regions of Africa and South America.

Padre Migrante

Cuando mi congregación me invitó a participar en este proyecto de “Giving Tueday”, pensé que tenía que participar. Hace cuatro semanas, hice una serie de blogs sobre mi vocación como misionero. Me gustaría agradecer a tantos que hicieron posible que realizara la vida misionera. Como joven, en la parroquia de Holy Name en Omaha, NE, conocí a hombres de mi barrio que eran misioneros en Brazil. De ellos inició la inquietud de servir como misionero.

Soy de una familia humilde. Éramos siete hijos de los mejores padres del mundo. En la casa, siempre teníamos lo necesario de vivir, pero cuando entré el seminario, sabía que no podía pagar todo lo necesario por la formación y educación que recibí. Nuestra formación se realizo por las donaciones de muchos que creyeron en la misión de los Redentoristas. Doy gracias a todos quien hizo posible que soy misionero, sirviendo a los campesinos migrantes.

Redentoristas son llamados para “evangelizar y ser evangelizado por los pobres”, y he recibido más que muchos la oportunidad de caminar con migrantes e inmigrantes. Me sorprendió cuando los Redentoristas pusieron una foto de mi con trabajadores en la cosecha de pepino para anunciar esta campaña de “Giving Tuesday.”

¡Qué Dios bendiga a todos que hagan posible nuestra misión!

When my congregation invited me to participate in this “Giving Tuesday” project, I knew that I had to give thanks to so many. Four weeks ago, I did a series of blogs about my vocation as a missionary. I would like to thank so many who made it possible for me to become a Redemptorist missionary. As a child, at Holy Name Parish in Omaha, NE, I met men from my parish who were missionaries in Brazil. Hearing their stories of the mission, I wanted to join them.

I am from a humble family. We were seven children with the best parents in the world. At home, we always had what we needed, but little more. When I entered the seminary, I knew that I could not pay fully for the wonderful training and education that I received. Our formation as Redemptorists was made possible by the sacrifices and donations of many who believed in the mission of the Redemptorists. I thank everyone who made it possible for me to be a missionary, serving migrant farmers.

Redemptorists are called to “evangelize and be evangelized by the poor”, and I have received more than many the opportunity to walk with migrants and immigrants. I was surprised and blessed when the Redemptorists put a photo of me with workers in the cucumber harvest to advertise this “Giving Tuesday” campaign.
